If what you say were true, JTFM, corporations would refile continuing patent applications ad nauseum, potentially extending any resultant issuing patent life to somewhere near infinity. Suggest persons here investigate what really has happened, in light of provisions of patent law regarding effective patent terms of life for issued patents that claim benefit of filing date of any parent application; I have not done so here w/o looking at disclosures of all patent applications that might be involved in your discussion.
