I will tell you this much...I live here. People think it's only Gillette and surrounding towns that are effected...that line of thinking could not be farther from the truth. Since the Coal Mines were shut down it has effected the State's budgets so bad that for the first time WY is in the red and having financial problems. School Boards all over the state are suing the State telling them they have not received enough money to properly educate the kids going to school. Every State Department and Institution that receives money from the State has had BIG Cuts Financially. (MILLIONS) So Wyoming Wants It BAD....REAL BAD. Governor Mead has been on the news every other night. Both Senators Enzi and Barrasso are both pushing for the mines to reopen...and sell as much coal to whoever wants it. So All the pushers and players in Wyoming are onboard to whatever makes it happen. And they will do whatever they have to do to get it all started.
