YOU posted PTSC might have a case about "fixed" (see in italic)

not fixed (unalterable) IMO means as a result "variable, mutable", so

...whose frequency is variable, mutable (not fixed) by any external crystal... my english is not as good but...

fixed {adj} [e.g. voltage divider ratio]
unveränderbar electr.tech. (german)
..
immutable {adj}
fixed {adj} [e.g. voltage divider ratio]electr.tech.
unalterable {adj}
immovable {adj}
unchangeable {adj}
...
...If that is what "fixed" means then PTSC might have a case if the judge is not a total jerk. The oscillator might be stabilized on chip but it is never actually completely fixed and certainly not fixed to the actual frequency of the crystal which is only capable of operating at a few megahertz and is, by its nature, unchangeable, while the on chip oscillator is variable varying due to temperature voltage and manufacturing process. Certainly this can be seen to be true as the gigahertz your computer CPU is operating at is constantly changing and the CPU clock is timed by the oscillator and varies with it.

Does "and whose frequency is not fixed by any external crystal.” mean no external crystal what so ever for anything or simply no external crystal providing the ACTUAL frequency the on chip oscillator is operating at. I think it should be the latter but the judges seem so eager to end PTSCs case I am not sure what they will actually decide.

IMO as well with the PLL they infringe, because they do not send a "fixed" (in the meaning of unchangeable) signal input, it varies no!
