There are all kinds of restrictions on those purchases

Not the least of which is that any potential tax benefit to the acquiring company cannot be the primary reason for the acquisition, and fair market value (not a multiple) must be paid for the stock by the acquirer.

So what would be the true reason for wanting to acquire EDIG, other than its accumulated loss?

Its valuable patent portfolio?
Its talented engineers?
Its portfolio of lucrative pending legal claims?
Its cash?
Its talented management team?
