Truckers are a conservative group. They tend to operate on thin margins, as you say, and need to keep their trucks moving and loaded to turn a profit. You've heard me say many times that 90% of the cost of operating a truck is fuel and labor, with fuel being close to 50% of that cost.
Reduce almost 50% of fuel cost by 30% and one can understand why NatGas could prove to be a very attractive alternative to diesel fuel. If OPEC has its way a barrel of oil will be sixty a barrel, which will make this switch over much more attractive. With oil at its current price the switch could be questionable. One needs to look to the future and our countries 100 year supply of NatGas and decide.
