As I understand it, they can't start further diabetes trials because of the huge cost. So even though they have around 50mm, the 50mm is somewhat not relevant since it's not enough to begin new trials. Given that this is public knowledge, vtv is in an awful bargaining position. Furthermore, the diabetes trials finished mid 2016. If results were really so good, and vtv was looking for a partner, why haven't they completed any partnerships? Presumably a pharma would love to partner with a oral treatment.

As for alzheimer's, is their compound not a retread of a failed trial that bp dumped? I understand that vtv must have done something differently (the dose?) but that isn't very confidence inspiring. Chances of alz success are already so low anyway.

All that being said, with top line results for alz due in 2018 and the chance for a diabetes partnership, vtv might be worth a small gamble as a swing trade (maybe a hold if they actually get a credible partner for diabetes). Seems like SP could easily drop 15-20% (but what bio couldn't), so I'd look for a lower entry.
