He never gives the reason for the moves higher in the gold price as the Fed is raising rates, although he says the moves are contrarian to market sentiment.

The reason is that with each rate hike the Fed is signaling that higher inflation is coming. The rate hikes are supposed to force inflation lower if they are raising at the correct pace. You very rarely hear anybody mention it, but that's why.

He also mentioned we could be in a ten year rate raising period. I might take issue with him on that prediction. There will be a downturn in the economy way before then. If the market crashes or takes a big sell off they'll be dropping rates again.
