Yep, I save wood from job sites or when I get rid of something. Love using what i have. I don't give a rip what something looks like just as long as it works. Thank God i have a wife that is country like me. LOL!

Does your ground freeze? I always thought mine froze and rotted.



They got left in the ground due to medical problems in a mixture of straw, wood chips, dirt. Had no idea how they turn out? Worms get to them? Would they rot?

We only had one long freeze this year. Other times be in 20's day or two.

Strange cause my dahlia tubers got through the winter also. Last few winter they turned to mush. No idea why all of a sudden they be ok.

On your potatoes. Yes, that is exactly how I been doing it for years. Potato normally has 3 or more starts on it so cut it up. By letting them dry before planting that gives that part of the exposed part to toughen up so when placed in ground less chance of disease getting your tater.
