i agree with everything you just said, but my point is still charts are not fortune tellers. i've seen great looking charts where volume indicated a bounce was coming, then something unexpected happened.

for examples, look at the companies where no one knew trump would tweet something negative about them, or where an earthquake in japan reversed them, or where a deal partner got sick and the merger never happened, etc.

these cases are the exceptions, not the rules, so you are most often correct, and charts will usually work. they are a great tool. for me, trading is a combination of technical analysis, fundamentals, and also an assessment of who's-doing-what on social media.
