It's the second one:

This is the big question on how much business needs to be done in order to turn a profit. It relates to how big the company is. So they can be profitable at 70M in annual sales, which translates to 17.5M/Quarter.

The question it leaves me with is: Is that operational profit (great) or is that a Net profit (Awesome).

This is not how much revenue the will do in 2016:

SUNW is already at 67.9M rev for the year. Which means to reach the reduced forecast we need 27.1 to get to 95M. Anything beyond that is great! If profitability for the year is reached at 70M, when we should be profitable for 2016.

Now the great news is that this means the company has money for growth, likely increased its cash position and will show a stronger balance sheet.
It would be tremendous is we showed a slight net profit, however as long as we are showing a strong operational profit, the bottom line (net) isn't quite as important IMO.
