I have construction industry business and Lowes in NC region where we operate has been having tons of troubles last couple years from declining sales, and trying to put posters out front inviting people to bring pets into stores in hopes they will buy something. NOW announcement they are cutting over 2,400 full time jobs too!

Problem with that, MANY people have pet allergies PLUS germ factor bringing animals into a human occupied store can also become a huge liability for Lowes doing this to bolster sales.

IN my region of Hickory, NC area, mainly it has been marketed as a real estate retirement area today as all former manufacturing is long gone along with those former living wages- and thus low fixed income population for the most part too.

I can foresee perhaps a merging of Home Depot & Lowes as the market cannot support two of these indices any longer- as they both did well during first wave baby boomers retiring who had wealth 20 years ago, but last 10-15 years, fewer people have any wealth as we once did and so, do not purchase as we once used too either... economy has not been good overall under Obama regardless what media spin he put on it...
