Ok, this is anecdotal... so, take it with a grain of salt.

A few years ago I took niacin 500 mg daily. I loved using it during the winter before going to bed since the flushing warmed me up. lol Aside from that, the only benefit I perceived was a rosier, healthier looking facial skin. There was no increase in energy. Since the reduction of oxygen flow to the skin from smoking appears to age smokers I always wondered if the increased oxygen flow to my skin from the flushing might have the opposite effect. I didn't take it during the summer months due to absolute discomfort from the flushing.

Now, on to Niagen. I started taking 250 mg in May 2016 for the possibility of the touted health benefits. I also take Pterostilbene 50 mg daily along with my regular supplement routine I've had for years.

After 7 days I thought I might be experiencing some benefit, but, wasn't quite sure. On day 10 I was absolutely sure of an increase in energy. Aside from dramatic increase in energy I noticed the following at various time points since starting on Niagen:

Better mental clarity
Faster typing speed
Neck and facial skin feels tighter
There's been a reduction in size of the pores on my face
Hair and nails are growing faster
Eyelashes are definitely thicker.
Ability to ride my bike for substantially longer periods than in the past.
I've gone from the high end of the A1C as prediabetic to drop into the normal range.

Between May and now, I did a period of time on 500 mg. Not one to believe more is better when trying something new I decided to drop back down to 250 mg. Especially, since one has to be concerned about potential side effects with long term use whenever trying something new.

My primary care physician is aware of my Niagen usage and he commented on how healthy I look. My dermatologist was so impressed with my improved look she has started it up herself. I go to her periodically for a check up ever since I had a bout with skin cancer. My dentist has even commented on my skin during the last visit.

Am I seeing a placebo effect or is Niagen helping me out here? My dr and I laugh about that question. he tells me the answer doesn't matter. ;)

I don't own any shares long or short.
