Unimed Pharmaceuticals Inc. said today that it was in negotiations to sell all outstanding shares of the company to an unnamed third party. The sale will be handled by Hambrecht & Quist. Trading in the shares was halted before the announcement. Earlier, the stock rose to a 52-week high of $9.25, valuing the company at $84 million. Since the beginning of the year, Unimed's stock price has more than doubled. The company focuses on therapies for cancer and H.I.V. It markets three drugs, including the H.I.V. and cancer treatment Marinol, the only drug to contain THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. Unimed had revenue of $16 million in 1998.
