My guess is that it can be used for storage of the charging coin when not in use. Stick the disc to a wall, a table top, in a drawer and the magnetic side of the charging coin will stick to it and not slide around or get lost. maybe?
One thing that is missing is instructions. Detailed instructions are not needed, but a little pictorial instruction sheet would be useful. Mainly, for the little things like to make sure you didn't miss anything in the packaging before you throw it away and also, to show what the little disc is for, and how to open the phone case and slide you phone into it properly.
