I'm thinking Jan is going to be another volatile month again this year.

If volatility doubles in January from current levels, TVIX and UVXY will probably be down.

Over the last 10 days volatility is 6.43. TVIX/UVXY is buying volatility (Jan VIX futures) at 15.71.
