False Bid and Ask numbers by Market Makers and computer traders are common on the NYSE, NASDAQ, and other exchanges. The practice is sometimes referred to as "Quote Stuffing." If you are a new trader and don't know about false bid and ask numbers (quote stuffing), I suggest you read the following article:

It's mostly about market manipulation in general. If you are going to trade stocks, You need to know all there is to know about what you are up against.

I started trading online with Ameritrade in 1993. I paid dearly for what I learned. I really despise these nasty little tricks so I mention them often just so others will not get cheated. Many traders on this group don't believe me.

Study the 57-page article linked above. It will open your eyes to a lot!

You also need to know a little about computer trading using algorithms.

I don't mean to imply that you are dumb if you don't know this. These are very complex trading tactics that many are unaware of. There's a lot more to learn too!
