Albert Belle and Juan Gonzalez had fairly close offensive stats, but Albert was a bit better, so imo, Alberts getting in the HOF doesnt mean that Juan should be in, imo.
But even more so, and I'm not trying to be a shmuck here, but Juan Gonzalez was on everybody's list of players whose careers were enhanced by steroid usage. Flip side is most everybody says Albert Belle was clean. Therefore, I think Belle was far better than Juan Gonzalez.
In fact, in 1995 Albert Belle came in second in a close vote for the MVP to confirmed steroid cheater Mo Vaughn. With Mo Vaughn off the juice, Albert would have won the MVP award.
And, in 1996 Albert Belle came in third place to Juan Gonzalez and Alex Rodriguez, both of whose numbers were juiced up, so he probably would have won another.
