Yes but he had 10 HOF caliber years, the guys averaged 120 rbis over those 10 years. To me when I ask whether a player is a HOF, I'm simply looking for 8-10 HOF years he met that criteria what is impressive is year after year the consistency. He had a year where he had over 50 double and 50 homers, you know how rare that is. This guy drove in 152 runs in one year. He was an amazing hitter, and whether he didn't have the most friendly personality is not the point, a guy like mattingly who didn't have anywhere near the career of Belle stood on the ballot all the time, the fact that this guy didn't even stay on the ballot was a joke in my opinion.
