I would have liked to hold all my shares, but I sold 50%. Not a reflection on EBM potential, but rather because I believe that history has shown that GE/Arcam are working together and not necessarily in the interest of existing shareholders. So I just don't know what to expect with regards to how GE will run Arcam.
The reason i held 50% of my shares in Arcam is the belief/hope that the stock won't tank due to liquidity issues, and the worst I will do will be to get out at around the current price. I am hoping this assumption is correct. My only data is to look at Axion/Canon where the stock did not tank.
So with the 50%, I split that up between 1) holding some to keep available (in case Arcam does tank and I want to get in at a lower price) and 2) investing in MTLS, SLM and ProtoLabs. I did this because I very much believe in the 3D space overall, in no small part because GE just validated the potential of the industry, and in particular SLM Solutions. These three firms also seem to be market leaders in their respective 3D spaces ... with solid 3D revenue growth.
Finally, I say my prayers every night. Can't hurt.
