'It just makes me sick': Kitsap detectives recover $100K worth of stolen goods

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. -- Peter Rohring spent Wednesday morning sifting through piles of tools and equipment searching for some of his items that were stolen from a job site a few months ago in Port Orchard.
"Yeah, I kind of gave up on it," said Peter Rohring. "It was great when I got the phone call because I was like 'Oh, great.' "
The call came from the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office. Detectives recovered $100,000 worth of stolen items after serving search warrants for a string of burglaries. They started the investigation after a citizen called to report a burglary in progress.
"This really was a teamwork effort between the citizens who were alert - and thankfully so - and our detectives who were taking those calls seriously and following them up," said Sgt. Ken Dickinson.
Many of the items were stolen from shops and job sites where homes are under construction.
"(I) woke up Thursday morning and noticed my garage door was open, went in there and immediately noticed things missing" said Jaime Cross.
Cross had about $3,000 worth of items stolen last week from his garage. He owns Cross Masonry, so he depends on the equipment for work.
"It just makes me sick that people would do that. It's pretty low to steal stuff from people that work hard to acquire this stuff," said Cross who also claimed some of his property on Wednesday.
It was a similar story for Dale Parker. His items were also stolen last week and Wednesday he recovered about $10,000 worth of tools.
"It's what I use to make a living," said Dale Parker.
Detectives arrested four suspects but only three are now facing charges for burglary.
If you recognize any of your stolen stuff, call the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office at 360-337-7101
Any items that are not claimed will be entered into the sheriff's database, then later sold at auction.
