Whenever I had two dogs at once,

there would always be one where I was the main focus (usually the first dog) and the other's main focus would be on the other dog even tho' they both were faithful to and loved me. Your little buddy would likely not have been so sad if it had been the other dog that had passed first, he'd still have you.

So you get another dog to keep the second one company and it starts all over, it's a vicious cycle I tells ya. :)
