Which "firm" are you suggesting people call? If you are talking about the auditing firm, people have already contacted them and been told "no comment". They will not confirm they are "working on financials".

CFO is just a hired gun. He obviously wouldn't want to hear about anything shady, and obviously he wouldn't be told about anything shady.
