Update: Estimated Long-Term Mutual Fund Flows

Washington, DC, September 28, 2016—Total estimated outflows from long-term mutual funds1 were $334 million for the week ended Wednesday, September 21, the Investment Company Institute reported today.

Equity funds2 had estimated outflows of $2.66 billion for the week, compared to estimated outflows of $4.23 billion in the previous week. Domestic equity funds had estimated outflows of $2.13 billion, and world equity funds had estimated outflows of $528 million.

Hybrid funds2—which can invest in stocks and fixed-income securities—had estimated outflows of $561 million for the week, compared to estimated outflows of $1.56 billion in the previous week.

Bond funds2 had estimated inflows of $2.88 billion for the week, compared to estimated inflows of $3.48 billion during the previous week. Taxable bond funds saw estimated inflows of $2.13 billion, and municipal bond funds had estimated inflows of $754 million.
