A wall is put up by large investors. They do this when they see the potential of a stock going up a lot. The wall scares smaller investors into selling for a small profit, or even a loss because they are afraid the stock won't go up any higher.

Once the large investor has driven the price back down and acquired more shares, they remove the wall and the stock will rise again. They have gotten a lot more shares at a cheaper price and now get richer.

Sometimes the smaller investors pull together and chip away at the wall, in which case the large investor will either have his shares sold for a profit, or they will pull their sale and just let the stock ride.

Hope this helps
