The more understanding I gain of the scientific basis for Jim Briscoe's hypothesis about Hay Mountain the more obvious it is to me that there are good reasons for a smart speculator to put up the money to test it. This is the kind of investment that in the oil business is called a wildcat prospect: good geology, chance of striking it rich, no guarantees. Many great fortunes have their foundations in a bet like this. No guarantees.
