Methinks Trump will bond with Putin. They'll find common ground, even if it means allowing Putin to reclaim past Russian territory.

Lowman, we are in different orbits about that. If Trump should do that will it:

"Give us peace in our time?"

I assume that you would be OK with Trump giving Putin the green light to invade the independent break away nations of the USSR. Yep! That would make Putin happy.

Putin has established a navy and an air base in Syria. He has agreements with Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba to pre-position supplies and fueling facilities at bases in those countries.

He's formed an alliance with Iran in Syria. He's sold them advanced ground to air missiles. With time I fully expect to see the Russian Navy patrolling the coast of Iran, Oman & Yemen as a show of solidarity with Iran.

To piss off half of a non-paying Nato member, or win the heart of a huge dictator like Putin?

I don't know the situation with NATO members not paying or not meeting their commitments. I do know that the Original NATO member Nation have stood with the US in decades of confrontation with Communism and terrorism.

Who have we faced in many of those confrontations? Putin & his predecessors.

I think the ones we would piss off the most are NATO members that were once in the Soviet Block. Who would ever trust America again if we facilitated the regeneration of the USSR.
