Cuppy - There are a couple paid services (very expensive) that total up the reported prescriptions on a weekly basis for all drugs. Usually brokerage firms and hedge funds are the only ones that can afford to subscribe... it gives an insight into to how much the drug is being prescribed, its market share, and in general what can be expected in revenues from it for the next quarterly report. They are reported by the two services, Symphony and IMS, every Friday for the numbers from the previous week. The numbers do not include prescriptions from private or specialty pharmacies, as they are not required to report them. Anyhow, my source for the numbers (someone that worked at a brokerage firm that paid for the numbers from Symphony) left his job, so I need to find another source that is willing to provide the numbers.
