Dear WeeZuhl,

Some of our regular readers send questions to WeeZuhl. By request, this is a repost of a recent response, with a follow-up discussion on drugs that prevent oral abuse and overdose.

Dear WeeZuhl,

I have a question that I have seen them arguing about on the Elite Facebook page. The question is: If Elite’s drugs are not crushed does it or does it not behave like any other opioid when taken as directed?

If a user takes more than directed without crushing it, will they not get high and possibly overdose?

Please explain this with a post to the board.

Thank you,

Afraid On Facebook

Well, Afraid, I’ve never heard of this Facebook you’re talking about, but I’d be happy to expound at length on the risks and benefits of the abuse-deterrent opioids. Your friends are correct, Afraid. SequestOx does not prevent oral abuse or overdose. As long as the user does not manipulate the beads, they will receive the full oral absorption dose of the opioid without any reduction at all, just like they were swallowing generic oxycodone. Allow me to demonstrate with SCIENCE!

Here is the drug liking curve for crushed and snorted SequestOx. The blue line is flat and the volunteer drug abuser is sad.

Now here is the exact same drug liking curve with oral intact SequestOx shown as the yellow line. The volunteer drug abuser seems to be quite pleased with how his day is going after swallowing intact SequestOx.

Do you see the difference between the two graphs, Afraid?

Oral intact SequestOx will kill you dead. So before you or any of your FaceTown friends suck down a sackful of SequestOx, I strongly recommend you consider the buddy system, as well as the newly-approved Evzio naloxone auto-injector. They have a $0 copay program.
