Return of CX-717 (continued) -

The fact that they're going to publish this new CX-717 artifact related data in a peer reviewed journal means the company has some really solid evidence for the mechanism that produced the artifact.

The new 10-K provides a lot more info than we previously had on the artifact. To my knowledge we previously didn't even know what tissue type the artifact was found in (CNS, liver, cardiac, kidney, etc), since that was not revealed by previous management as far as I remember.

Based on the 10-K, the artifact was in the CNS (appearance of vacuoles in certain brain regions), and was apparently caused by an interaction between the CNS tissue and the fixative agent (formaldehyde) and one of the metabolites of CX-717. This would explain why some Ampakines produce the artifact while others don't, since the differing chemical structures of each compound produce structurally different metabolites. It's only one particular metabolite that interacts with the formaldehyde, and not all Ampakines produce that particular metabolite when breaking down.

They must have solidly nailed down this mechanism to be seeking to publish it in a peer reviewed journal, so more kudos to the new management.
