That's generally enough to run the essentials as long as everything doesn't try to start at the same time. I have an old home with a 100 amp service. I checked my current draw when everything I need was running and I draw less than 50 amps.

I have a gas kitchen stove, water heater and furnace plus a gas fireplace and a gas wall mounted heater at the other end of the house so my electric needs are limited to refrigerators, a small freezer, circulator pumps on the furnace, a few lights and of course, for comfort ... TV/DVD player!!
