People really need to understand that "Prepping" in this day and age is to prepare for a horrendous economy.

Some of the things people need to think about ...

1. Getting the federal govt out of our lives. Pay off all Student Loans and Mortgages owned by Fannie, Freddie, FHA etc. One needs to be aggressive on this.

2. Lower Mandatory Expenses. From Energy Efficiency to low real estate taxes are good examples.

3. Drinking Water is a key, and the best way is for families to have their own well. Iodine Tincture is key in killing bacteria in water.

4. Make sure transportation is readily available. A small motorcycle or, better yet .... A Moped are a great way to do this. Hybrid cars and a good supply of gas are great ideas also.

5. Have plenty of backup power. A home generator running off of Propane is probably the best along with at least a 500 gallon tank. Buried is best. The stove should run on propane also.

6. Food. Dried foods work best, and canned foods are great. Have a Big Garden.

7. Anything that has no shelf life is better than money in the bank, and easily used as barter. In particular guns and Ammunition.

8. Oil lanterns, Handheld radios (CB, Ham, and Walkie Talkies), and plenty of rechargeable batteries with LED Flashlights.

9. Physical Silver is the single best hedge against the U.S. dollar.

10. And most importantly - Plan and prepare with family, friends, neighbors, and community

11. Have at least enough cash to pay 6 months of bills - A year would be better.
