I have made five trips to the archives de Indies in Seville.
I have photo copies of over 1200 documents related to the sailing, shipwreck, salvage, contemporary lawsuits and eye witness accounts involving the treasure both recovered and lost.
If you publish erroneous or untrue statements
It will be my obligation as a historian to bring errors to light.
So I am only suggesting that you publish responsibly.
Bob Marx had no oversight, no one save for Mendel Petersen who knew he was full of bologna.
At least Marx made up shipwrecks that way no one could refute his claims.
The San Miguel is not some podunk wreck that no one knows about.
There are a half dozen researchers that I know of, including one working on a book with a major NY publishing house that includes much factual material of the San Miguel. All with the collective knowledge and years of credibility who understand the plight of the San Miguel.
So put some forethought into what you publish. It will follow you forever.
