Chess set was an aberration, but to even entertain the concept of it on the website was ridiculous.

When you're successful and making loads of money, you make novelty items like that (Hess truck for Christmas comes to mind), but when you haven't made a dime or made billions selling oil, you don't have an intern develop a theoretical concept and then put it on your website.

Regardless, you'd expect Engel and Materion to have changed that thinking and/or certainly not stand idly by seeing that waste of time, while those two devote big time and money to the tech with possible real world applications to make real money.
