Its very challenging to detect HIT in pancreatic cancer patients receiving chemo when they already have a much higher risk of thrombosis and thrombocytopenia. One can easily argue that the thrombocytopenia is due chemo, and the thrombosis is caused by underlying cancer. I don't think you can use the 4T criteria properly in this population to assess HIT. It will be too costly to send for antibody testing and functional essay for every patient who develops thrombocytopenia. I will be very curious how MNTA can come up with a protocol to detect HIT.
