That sums it up. If I owned GNGR shares [not likely since all my investments are blue chips] I'd be exploring options to grab the tax loss before yearend to offset gains in my other stocks and funds. The NASDAQ 100 is in record high territory and the Dow and S&P 500 are approaching record levels. As always, consult investment and tax pros.
