Come on Cash. Your examples are taken directly from the canned definitions of a holding company. We all understand that. But the only thing they would "control" is the percentage ownership that they have in the subsidiary, or in this case, 33 1/3 percent.
The only thing on the 33 1/3 percent parent's books would be their 33 1/3 percent interest in the venture. The other 66 2/3 percent owners would book the remaining 66 2/3 percent interest.
Each of the owning entities would not book 100 percent of the venture. That's not permitted under accounting rules, plain and simple.
