Dr. Edward J. "JOE" Eyring is a board-­--certified colon and rectal surgeon as well as a board-­--certified general surgeon. Emory University, and his MD from the University of Tennessee Memphis. Dr. Eyring is currently a speaker at the national level on colon cancer, media campaigns for public education on the prevention of colon cancer, as well as colorectal surgical procedures.
The previous fellowship director of the UHPI Colorectal Fellowship, Dr. Eyring sits on the volunteer clinical faculty at the University of Utah College of Nursing and Family Practice Residency programs. He is involved as a co-­--investigator in an NIH study on rectal cancer, as well as the past chairman of the Utah Cancer Action Network. Dr. Eyring is also an active participant as a principal investigator in more than 20 Phase 2/Phase 3 studies and writing of research protocols.
Dr. Eyring sits on the American Cancer Society Executive Board for the State of Utah, Hope.
He is a business entrepreneur who has started and run five successful businesses, all health-­--care related. He sits on the nonprofit Logue Foundation, which provides low-­-- income housing for the homeless. He is an active participant in ultra marathons and 24-­-- hour mountain bike racing.
