As I've said: $50,000 in supplies and a garage with some basic lab gear is all any one person needs to destroy the human race, a subpopulation of humans (e.g., Chinese, all non-Chinese, all reproductively-capable women) or simply spread suicide gene cassettes that will kill the person when they hit menopause, reach a certain aging milestone, etc.

It's here now - and has been for about 10 years.

Welcome to the New World - where smallpox and syphilis are nothing at all. Just unrefined iron ore found in the natural state. One can make razors, knives, bullets, and firearms with the knowledge to turn that ore into weapons. Bioweapons are MUCH easier to make - no blast furnace required.

AI a risk to humans? Nott a chance. Humans will never survive long enough to create any AI that is anywhere near "intelligence" as we know it (as we can't even define it).

Will humans be around in 100 years? Maybe.

1,000 years? Nott a chance.

One person, $50,000 and a garage. Anywhere. Needs only simple chemicals that cannot be controlled as most explosive precursors can be today.

Vacuum upp that pennyscam loot before humanity goes back to where we came from - dust and the ocean.

5 years? 50 years? 500 years?

I'd putt my munny somewhere between the first two choices. Too bad nobuddy will be around to collect on that bett.
