Good find Yip, really hoping the letter from US textiles and garmentss is a method of climbing on in a class action suit against Alibaba. There is just no reason to wholesale purchase from anyone other than the the OEM. To act surprised, well, here's the deal. Law suit has been filed for Alibaba selling counterfeits:May 29th Alibaba's Ma Expresses Regret...SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — The founder of Alibaba Group defended its stance against counterfeit goods and expressed regret Tuesday that the owner of luxury brands Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent has sued the e-commerce giant. This may take a while, but like you say, it strengthens our position as a remedy eventually.

This crap is taking a long time.

This is from your other recent post when Embedded Military hosted the SIA's three of the four horseman of of our apocalyps:)
MATHIESEN: The government writes new laws, and has been chasing down and prosecuting more traffickers of counterfeits, and has been seeking heavier penalties. We will see just how much the Justice system believes that knowingly selling counterfeit parts to the DoD is really an act of sabotage on a DoD weapon system. The most recent prosecution of a man named Peter Picone comes up for sentencing next month. The severity of his sentence should tell us a lot about what the judges will do in the future with these saboteurs.....

It was either you or Wishful who posted the following news a couple of years ago. And just one year ago he pleaded guilty.

Massachusetts Man Charged with Selling Counterfeit Semiconductors Intended for Use on Nuclear Submarines

Peter Picone, 40, of Methuen, Mass., has been charged with importing counterfeit semiconductors from China for sale in the United States.

The charges were announced today by Acting Assistant Attorney General Mythili Raman of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division; Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut Deirdre M. Daly; Special Agent in Charge Bruce Foucart of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) - Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Boston; Acting Special Agent in Charge of Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) Northeast Field Office Craig W. Rupert; and Special Agent in Charge of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Northeast Field Office Cheryl A. DiPrizio.
Can't find anything on his sentencing, YET. Matheseins line up above woke me up about it. May cop a plea and just walk.

I got issues with the SIA and their simplistic answers to the problem. Their simple REDESIGN obsolete systems and PLUG AND PLAY, drag and drop.... that BS dried up pretty fast when COTS first pushed out in the early 90's (plug and play indicating a new processor and Operating System just needed to be plugged in and everything would boot up with enhanced features).

Bunch a backlash when that NEVER happened kind of made the term plug and play go away. REDESIGN is extremely costly. Since the SIA already made a shit load of cash on first issue of design, why can't they hang out for the 30-40 year life cycle and support evolution of the system. Maintain the dies and production ability vs. selling out their inventory to the open market.

On the open market is where we lost control.. OCM sold off their overages and who knows what their buying.

SigNATURE DNA again provides a viable solution for current practices. The SIA does produce the highest grade chips in the world. Buying direct is the obvious choice, but they choose to close off support of a product ¼-way into the life span of a weapon system. WTF?

They have more of an obligation to support the weapon system, cradle to grave. Designing obsolescence into a system should be on their shoulders too. Selling out their inventory to the open market five years into a forty year program is just pimping their shit to first customer (and that shit should stop).

Let em bring it to court. Never seems to get there.

Again,
Thanks for the heads up on the fabrics.

Mike
