SALEEN IS A MANUFACTURER OF RECORD NOT JUST A TUNER!!!!!
Steve Saleen is building these new cars as the manufacturer of record. This means the new Mustang he will build has no Ford or Mustang emblems. This means the company must adhere to and participate in all of the requirements of the federal government including EPA, CAFÉ, NHTSA as well as state regulations. It is a much more expensive and difficult way of building and selling the cars as a “manufacturer” than simply being a “tuner” such as Roush, Steeda, and even MJ Acquisition’s “Saleen Automobiles” operation. In fact many do not understand why Steve Saleen has been hell-bent on doing it this way. In my travels I have heard many people even suggest that it’s about ego or arrogance.
