Good article, but the authors are missing the connection between "plasma homocysteine, folate and vitamin B6 and B12" and health issues beyond depression - something I am unfortunately quite familiar with - an inability to properly methylize/metabolize/convert a variety of nutrients required for a number of cellular functions. Histamine is also involved, part of the inflammatory response to certain allergens, and proteins contained in processed foods - folic acid is regularly added to breads/pasta, but for those that cannot break it down to methylfolate, the form the body needs, it's an additive that creates some big problems - the body releases histamine in response, and homocysteine levels go way up in those people - all of my inflammatory markers have plummeted to normal levels since I went on V, except for that one.

It's a lot more complicated than that, but too dense to write up in a short post, so don't criticize my simplified descriptions of the complex metabolic processes, JL!
