Despite continued investments, revenues from Intel’s overall software business have grown just 2.5% CAGR from $2.1 billion in 2012 to $2.2 billion in 2015. In addition, the software business has been drag on Intel’s profitability, with operating margins of roughly 4.0% in C15, well below the corporate average of roughly 23.0%.
