Our iPad 1 is apparently dead as it doesn't seem to hold a charge so it looks like we'll either replace it with a new iPad or just stop using it. So basically a usable life of about five years. If ours is going, it probably means that a lot more of them are going as well so we might see a replacement cycle starting.

I replace my Nexus 7 with the iPad Mini but my wife prefers a full-size tablet. I offered her my Mini but she passed on it. We really haven't spent any money on tech this year and I keep asking but nobody has indicated an interest in upgrading what they have now.
