It's funny you mention that trick your mother taught you. I was about to walk out the door and put some cucumber seeds in the ground. I think I'll soak them in milk first, then plant them on Sunday.

I've clipped the bolting part of spinach, and managed to get a few more leaves off of them. Don't know if clipping the bolt helps or not? I still do it.
