Actually, they had plenty of time to work behind the scenes on a better approach than what they are taking. That is a disappointment. A great one.

To ignore you largest asset after your IP, a loyal shareholder base, is ignorant. Plenty could have and can be achieved by waking UP this asset and asking it to help itself and the company escape debt dungeon.
