Apps for Itouch,Iphone ,iPad, Kindle Fire or other devices

There is an app called Waze which is a gps app that I find way better than google maps and the one that comes with the Iphone. It is so much easier to understand and navigate. But when I am a passenger and I try typing in a location while the car is driving it doesn't allow me to do it. I have to wait until the car comes to a stop before I can type an address into the program. Why can't they do that will all cell phones? If you really need to use it why not require that the car comes to a stop?
