Who says they alienated the shareholder base not to participate in the rights offering? Where do you get that notion?

Many individual investors participated in the rights offering. And many who didn't instead chose to buy on the market due to the arbitrage situation that created a share price LOWER than the rights offering. They could've very well participated but with a lower price right on the market, why would they?

There was no alienating going on at all.

The only person that didn't participate and in hindsight probably should have was Offor.
