BRND Food for thought... from TDA: The reason it showed .0058 was that there was an "out of sequence" trade that happened which should have been removed since it was out of sequence. Since it was not, it showed up in the last price which created the net change. The clients positions did not record the trade which is correct, that is why he did not see his account increase in value.

An out of sequence trade happens when the trade appears on the ticker in the wrong place and therefore the price can be higher or lower than the neighboring same stock's trades. This usually happens because the transaction occurred at an unknown time and was just added to the ticker randomly so the price looks unusual however it is still a valid trade, it's just marked "out of sequence" for the benefit of all the ticker watchers.
