The voodoo economics point is funny. It may be the case that Nomura had no backup for the figures in the prospectuses, so FHFA would have had to model what the "true figures" were at the time that the prospectuses were dated. So they would have to model the securities and then model them backwards in time to figure out what the numbers were during the correct time period. An interesting problem.
