Market Chatter: Shell/BG Deal Could Be Good For Cheniere Energy

07:10 AM EDT, 04/08/2015 (MT Newswires) -- Royal Dutch Shell's (RDS-A) offer to acquire LSE-listed BG Group could be "good" for liquefied natural gas export project developer Cheniere Energy (LNG) if the deal goes through, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The report points out that LNG has a contract to sell liquefied natural gas to BG for a period of 20 years, and RDS-A has a better credit rating than BG.

In October 2011, BG Group signed the first offtake agreement for LNG to be produced at Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass terminal near the Texas/Louisiana border, now under construction.

Shares of LNG are at $78.49 within a 52-week range of $50.91 - $85.00.

Shares of RDS-A are down $0.72, or 1.16%, at $61.23 in pre-market trading within a 52-week range of $56.82 - $83.42.
